Minority Engineer Magazine, launched in 1979, is a career- guidance and recruitment magazine offered at no charge to qualified engineering or computer-science students and professionals who are African-American, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian American. Minority Engineer presents career strategies for readers to assimilate into a diversified job marketplace.

This magazine reaches minority engineers nationwide at their home addresses, colleges and universities, and chapters of student and professional organizations.

While an internship with Alcoa provides the intern with invaluable experience that can be utilized in any role, it is Alcoa’s goal to evaluate its interns for potential entry-level openings. With over 60 locations across the US, there are opportunities to work in a variety places around the country. Internships are located in Alcoa, TN; Lancaster, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Norcross, GA; Boonville, IN; and Cleveland, OH.
 
Alcoa interns have the opportunity to be part of real world business scenarios. Its interns learn the company’s business processes and are given ample mentoring and instruction. Their skills are sharpened as full members of a project team, working alongside leaders in partnership with business unit clients. Interns are also exposed to a variety of project- based assignments that allow them to add value to the company. Interns are assigned projects based on their business unit specifications that vary depending on location.
 
Internships typically run from May or June through August. For all the internships, the student must be enrolled in an accredited university or college, and be a sophomore or above. The company prefers the student to have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
