Minimum 5 years experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or Reliability Engineer in the oil refining or petrochemical industry.

THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND
The Department of Aerospace Engineering in the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park is a vibrant and growing department with research in hypersonics, microsystems, rotorcraft, smart materials and structures, and space robotics. It has 20 faculty, six chaired faculty positions, an annual research expenditures of over $19M, and highly ranked undergraduate and graduate programs (“top ten”). While the department is looking for highly qualified tenure-track faculty starting in June 2010 or thereafter in all areas related to Aerospace engineering, applicants in the following areas are particularly encouraged:

Description

Designs, implements, and supports distributed storage product software written in C. In this challenging position you will work in a high-performance team that creates and supports a highly available, distributed iSCSI storage product which is based on HP X86 platforms running the Linux operating system. You will implement, debug and support software that deals with the distributed nature of the product assuring the state of the system is known and the integrity of the data is maintained, work closely with Support to assist with field issues, develop automated tests, and enhance the product. You will grow your knowledge of distributed systems.

This persons duties would include:

· Development of SANiQ Software.

· Handling escalations from Support : initial triage, bug recreation, isolation, & resolution, involving appropriate developers if necessary.

· Creating patches and service packs. Working with other groups to make them available to the field in a timely fashion.

· Adding support enhancements to the product: Support Tools, Performance Monitoring Tools, Debug aids, Log Analysis Tools, etc.

· Needs to have a strong desire to understand how the whole system works.

Qualifications

· Must have degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.

· 2 - 10 years experience developing Linux based software, preferably storage related.

· Must know C or C++.

· Must have scripting skills in at least one of the following: Python, Ruby, Perl.

· Must have strong debugging skills with the gcc toolchain and gdb.

Qualifications

• Proven technical knowledge and experience in network operating systems, IP networking and storage technologies.

• Understanding of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, RAID, and SAN technologies.
