FACULTY POSITION IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-PLATTEVILLE.

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering seeks one assistant professor, tenure-track, starting August 2008. Bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in ME or a closely related field are required. The doctoral degree requirements must be met by 30 May 2008. Expectations of the successful candidate are the ability to teach and develop a broad spectrum of ME courses with a particular emphasis on strong laboratory skills for both thermal and mechanical systems. Professional and scholarly activities are expected, but quality teaching is the primary responsibility. The successful candidate needs to have demonstrated commitment to or experience with racially diverse populations. The UWP ME Program is delivered at the Platteville campus and at a growing number of outreach campuses. This opening is for the initial staffing of the UW Rock County campus, a developing outreach program in Janesville, WI. Application deadline is Feb. 1, 2008. AA/EEO Employer

Associate or Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, MERCED

The School of Engineering at UC Merced invites applications for a tenured faculty position in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Complex and/or Energy Systems. The candidate will play an integral part in the development of Mechanical Engineering undergraduate and graduate programs, and is expected to contribute to the development of the Merced Energy Research Institute. All areas related to Mechanical Engineering will be considered, but candidates with proven expertise in the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: radiation heat transfer, energy systems, novel solar energy technologies, complexity analysis and design of thermal systems, heat sinking networks. The candidate should be a recognized leader in his/her field of research at national and international levels, have an outstanding record as a teacher and in service to his/her university and/or scientific community, and be comfortable applying a broad-range of research tools across multiple disciplines.
